Instructional videos and more
This website has been designed to provide additional and supporting information for those commencing continuous positive pressure (CPAP) or require long-term ventilation, such as non-invasive ventilation (NIV).
Using the choices from the bar at the top of this page, this website has: 1) instructional videos from a number of sources that most closely match the way in which the Oxford Sleep and Ventilation Service commence CPAP or long term ventilation. The exact equipment shown may be different to that supplied to you, but the principles remain the same. 2) there is a 'frequently asked questions' section, 3) links to external resources (such as SATA, the patients' association), and 4) information on how to contact the Oxford Sleep & Ventilation Service should you need extra help.
The Oxford Sleep and Ventilation Service started in 1985 and has steadily grown to one of the largest services in the UK. It was started by Professor John Stradling and more recently taken over by Dr Annabel Nickol, Respiratory Medicine Consultant. We have an experienced team of Nurses, Physiotherapists, Physiologists, and Clinical Support Workers delivering a service for Oxfordshire and it's surrounding counties. We look after over 16,000 patients on CPAP and 800 patients who require long-term ventilation and / or airway clearance needs.
